Portrait Painting Course – Ten Sessions

Description

Portrait Painting Course – Ten Sessions

A 10-Session Course to Transform Your Portrait Skills

Learn to paint expressive, accurate portraits with a clear, repeatable method used by professional artists. This course takes you from the very first brushstroke to a fully realised oil portrait, even if you’re new to painting.

Across ten carefully structured sessions, you will:

• Master the essentials quickly
Get comfortable with paints, brushes, mediums, and surfaces, and learn why a limited palette is the fastest way to build real skill.
• Build portraits with confidence and accuracy
Start with simple shapes, place anchor lines, map proportions, and use the five essential darks to design the structure of any face.
• Learn the proven power of 2-value painting
Before colour, you’ll learn the professional method of creating portraits using only light and dark, the foundation for all strong painting.
• Add values, colour, and detail with clarity
Step by step, you’ll learn to mix clean tones, paint transitions (not blend them), refine shapes, and bring your portrait to life with highlights, accents, and expressive colour.
• Create a complete limited-palette portrait
Follow a guided method for building a portrait in colour that feels unified, believable, and full of character.
• Develop a final, fully composed painting
In the last sessions, you’ll move beyond the head and into a larger composition, learning how to design strong shapes, organise your palette, and build a polished finished piece.

By the end of the course…
You’ll have a powerful portrait-painting process you can use again and again, the confidence to work from life or photos, and a finished oil painting you’re proud of.
